The Lourdes apparitions were a series of visions experienced by Bernadette Soubirous, a 14-year-old French girl, in 1858. Bernadette reported seeing a beautiful lady in a grotto near the town of Lourdes. This lady, who identified herself as the Immaculate Conception, appeared to Bernadette a total of 18 times.

During these visions, the lady instructed Bernadette to dig in the ground, where a spring of healing water emerged. This spring, known as the Lourdes spring, has since become a site of pilgrimage and a symbol of faith and healing for millions of people around the world.
